The Successor Solar Incentive (SuSI) Program provides New Jersey homeowners and non-residential solar users with a set Solar Renewable Energy Credit (SREC-II) for the megawatt-hours of electricity created by their solar panels. To take advantage of the SuSI Program, register your energy generating system with the NJ Cleanenergy Program’s Administratively Determined Incentive (ADI) portal. As of this writing, the rules state, “the ADI Program will accept new registrations on a first come, first serve basis unti lthe megawatt block for that market segment is fully subscribed or until June 1, 2022, whichever comes first.” Be sure to go solar and start your application soon to qualify!
Going solar is a great way to reduce your electric bill, but don’t stop there! Consider switching to LED light bulbs, using smart home technology like the smart SPAN panel, and replacing old appliances with high ENERGY STAR rated new appliances. You can also save electricity by simply turning off lights, televisions, computers and other energy-using devices when not in use.

Solar energy can make huge cuts in monthly electricity bills, and is an investment that starts paying off the moment it is activated. To help homeowners offset more than 30% of a solar purchase, there are federal and state tax incentives, and some local utilites will credit you for the excess power your solar power system produces.
In December of 2019, Transition Renewable Energy Certificates were introduced as a way to receive incentives for your solar power production. Depending on the type of solar generation system you have installed on your home, you will receive a set megawatt per hour price for the power created by the solar panels. In 2020, that price was set at $152 for each TREC you have for a period of fifteen years.
